Child birth is one of the toughest, yet most rewarding moments in a mothers life. The birthing process can be more painful for a woman depending on a number of factors including the hours in labor, whether the baby is in a compromising position in the womb, or the overall size and weight of the baby. For this Florida mother, the weight of her huge baby caused shock and delight in the delivery womb when doctors safely brought her into the world.

On May 15th, Chrissy Corbitt was preparing to welcome her fifth child at the Orange Park Medical Center. When she went into labour and finally gave birth to a baby girl, she recalled “When the doctor was pulling her out of me I just start hearing them all laughing and excited in the operating room, they were throwing out numbers and when they showed her to me and said 13.5 I couldn’t believe it.”

Her husband, Larry was right by her side throughout the whole delivery process and explained how he was shocked when doctors started calling out numbers in the teens and he couldn’t believe it. Chrissy had a c-section so there were blankets covering her from the waist down so he was not able to see what was going on. However, when she finally appeared, he sweetly explained “Her cheeks were so chunky and she was just so fat. She was so gorgeous, of course”. The baby was just so large that the couple had to personally contact diaper brands including Huggies and Pampers for size 3 diapers because the original ones they had bought were just too small.

As for the baby’s mother, Chrissy, the pregnancy was rather tough on the mother of five. Her husband went on to say that the baby arrived a week early so could have been even bigger if she’d have come into the world the following week. Moreover, Larry said that “My wife went through so much previously. A year ago we had a grease fire in our kitchen, twenty-seven percent of her body [was burned], down both of her arms and both of her legs.” In addition to this trauma, Chrissy was also anaemic and had to have three blood transfusions during the C-section because her iron was so low.

Larry went on to commend his incredible wife saying “My wife is a trooper for everything she’s gone through.” As for adding more to the Corbitt brood, Chrissy injected “That’s enough for me, we’re going out with a bang.”
