While many moms want to look like a glowing pregnant queen in the obligatory photoshoot before giving birth, Page Miller wanted the exact opposite. The 24-year old mother of one calls herself a “Target mom”. She admitted she is far from perfect and doesn’t always find the time to brush her hair after running around her little one, 3-year-old Avery. So, when her photographer best friend, Heather Pippin were discussing where to do her pregnancy shoot, they knew just the place.
At 35 weeks pregnant, Miller and Pippin walked into their local Target in Arnold Missouri to have some “mom-life fun”. Miller said “If you know me, you know I have a huge love for Target. It’s where I do 90 percent of my shopping,” she continued, “Other than the sitting on the floor, everything we did in the photos we’ve done before.” She also incorporated little Avery into the photoshoot and said “I let Avery go a little crazy that day because, well, life gets crazy and we should all have a little more fun I think.”
Although it was a joyous day, it was somewhat bittersweet as Miller was reminded of her past. In September last year, Miller lost her second child, Clarke to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). She said of her second child, “Pretty much anything we do we try to incorporate Clarke. He’s our Clark Kent. He’s Superman.” And from this, Superman will always be the symbol they use for their baby. Miller said she finds peace and stability in the superhero symbol, explaining, “It always reminds me to take a deep breath. Whenever I see it, I think of Clarke saying to me ‘Mom, I’m here… it’s OK”.
As Miller prepare’s to welcome her third child, she was able to reflect on her journey so far, adding “Life’s hard. Avery is at a hard age. This last year has been hard. Being pregnant and huge … It’s all hard, these photos remind me to value the moment. We can’t take everything too seriously.”
