It is always a risk to accept a friend request on social media from your parents. Whether you are accustomed to posting questionable pictures or silly statuses, having your mom and dad comment embarrassing remarks is practically social suicide. So if you are at that crucial stage and have yet to click “approve,” scan through this list that will make you cringe, laugh – and decline.
Elizabeth thought she would humble brag about her parents’ marriage on her social media account, but she never thought it would backfire.
Your Wish Is My Command
The mother in this post had everyone rolling on the floor with laughter while reading her comment. Her son posted a link in which people could ask him just about anything they want, and he would have to answer. That way, one could learn more about their friends. However, this witty mother thought she would chirp in and let her son have a piece of her mind, so she commented: “why don’t you put a new toilet paper roll on when you finish one?”
This father was feeling particularly witty with this snarky remark he made on his son’s Facebook status. Although most parents would probably read a status like this and not use it to make fun of their child, this guy’s father thought that if anything, he would be a fool to pass out on an opportunity to embarrass his kid. To be fair, the kid was being vulnerable writing a gushy statement like that anyway, so he had it coming no matter what.
Bumming Me Out
“I am a princess and I have the underwear to prove it!” wrote Michelle, proud of the statement she has made on her social media profile, for all of her friends and acquaintances to see. However, she never could have anticipated the shocking comment her father would leave on this picture, writing that her underwear seemed “unusual” since they did not have any skid marks on them. Blown away by his remark, Michelle was left utterly speechless.
From Thug To Snug
With his crew cut and serious sideways stare, this guy was giving out severe thug life vibes – or at least, that is what he was trying to do, until his mother decided to blow his cover. “Is that Mr. Pigums in the background of your picture?” she wrote in capital letters as if to make her hilarious message stand out even more. As it turns out, leading a gangster lifestyle is not all it’s cracked up to be.
It’s Not About The Money
It is important to have support when trying to achieve personal goals, but this teen was clearly not feeling encouraged by the comment that was made by her mother. Reading “I’d pay to be thin,” her status could be seen as a cry for help by many, such as the person with the last name Diggins that responded with a heart icon. However, the teen’s mother chose a different path and replied with: “most people do… it’s called a gym.”
Too Much Information
Breakups can be rough, especially when being highly active as a couple on social media. Going from “in a relationship” to “single” is a heartbreaking move, and even more so if the split was not a mutual decision. As if having to remove the tags from mutual pictures is not hard enough, this poor guy had his mother comment a rather embarrassing response to the fact her son no longer has a special someone in his life, writing: “I’ll stock up on the Kleenex…”
Signing into his social media account, the (feet of the) man in the picture below is shown in a suggestive pose, mimicking the one his daughter uploaded a few minutes prior to him posting this one. The man did not anticipate his daughter’s photo as he scrolled down his news feed, featuring bawdy knee high socks and a glimpse of her upper thigh. Thankfully, surfers of the internet were spared a sneak peek of the dad’s upper leg.
Private Made Public
Ryan could not hide the mortified look on his face as he logged on to his Facebook account and clicked the notification that read “John M. wrote on your wall.” His father may have successfully grasped the concept of going to his son’s profile to type his message, but somehow missed the extra and crucial step of sending a private message instead of posting on his public wall for all to see. At least this way John will remember his mother’s request!
Everyone needs a little bit of love in their lives, and while it may take many forms, some are too wild not to joke about. Derek was feeling particularly confident posting that as a birthday present to himself, he fully intends of finding a woman much, much older than him and go wild. His mother, Joy, was not having any of this nonsense, so not only did she scold her son and order him to go to bed immediately, but also updated everyone he did as he was told.
Being an average juvenile Joe, the boy thought it would be funny to post an image featuring text onto his Facebook account, and got the comeback of a lifetime from his very own mother. The text read: “nothing is really lost until your mom can’t find it,” to which his friend replied, “what about your virginity?” Although most mothers would be prone to protecting their child from cyberbullying, Connie responded with: “in his bedroom… under the pile of dirty socks…”
Like Mother Like Daughter
This young couple who is very much in lust/love did what any other pair of adolescent lovebirds would do – they took their affection to their social media pages. The teenage girl’s parents, however, thought they might give their daughter a taste of her own medicine by recreating her photos. While the girl might have felt embarrassed by her parents’ stunt, the result is undeniably hilarious. We have to say, we hope their future holds many more funny posts just like this one.
This boy went on his Facebook page and posted a status stating it was time to do the dirty deed with some b*tches. He received just one reply that was certainly more than enough, mostly due to the fact that it was written by the boy’s father. The replies read: “leave the neighbor’s dog alone,” which is an incredibly literal interpretation of the status, resulting in both a disgusting mental image and hilarious comeback.
Becky Mackintosh has had quite enough of her daughter’s frisky photos that were posted online for all to see, so she and her husband decided to get back at her in the best way they could imagine – getting even. Taking to Twitter, Becky uploaded a picture of her husband wearing a t-shirt reading “Best. Dad. Ever.” and rocking very short jeans shorts while leaning against a wooden bar. His “bad attitude” face ridiculed the picture his daughter posted, with hopes of making her think twice before uploading.
Lesson Well Learned
Tash’s personal Facebook account was taken over by her mother, who wanted to teach his daughter a lesson about spreading lies online and pretending to be someone she is not. Scrolling over Tash’s timeline, her mother Marguerite decided she had enough of the lies and told it like it is to Tash’s growing number of followers on her social profile. While stating the bad girl act was just for show could have been enough, Marguerite didn’t stop there and let all hell break loose.
Better Knock Than Sorry
Young Strachan may not be your average Aussie boy, proudly exhibiting a Facebook profile picture of him wearing nothing more than women’s lingerie and a cheeky smile, but it was his posted status that caused waves on his personal page. After expressing how mortified he felt while walking in on his parents ruffling the sheets in the middle of the day, his dad responded with a witty comeback on his behalf, saying it was just as awkward spotting his son’s rather unsuitable profile picture.
Driving old, beat-up cars is a phase most teens go through at one point or another, as a sort of right of passage from adolescence to adulthood. Jake was clearly having a hard time breezing through, what with driving a Hyundai “Accident” and all, so he sought comfort in the one place he could always turn to – his Facebook friends. However, his father Jim could not stand by and let his son get away with being so ungrateful as to disregard the vehicle he owned, so he began a cyber dispute.
Julia was content with the progress she has made with her weight, nudging just the slightest bit closer to her goal. Anyone who has attempted to lead a healthier lifestyle and cut back on those little luxuries that tickle the tongue will stand by Julia, who is ecstatic to announce to the world her accomplishment – however, her father was not feeling so sentimental reading her post. With seven simple words, he shattered whatever pride she had left, writing: “what, did you take off your makeup?”
Nothing Like Nature
Moving swiftly along from the many typos, Michael was clear in having his Facebook followers know how he feels about plastic surgery. Allisonn, his female friend, was quick to jump on the same train with a minor correction, one Michael was happy to adopt. It was not until his mother, Amy, decided to jump in on the conversation that tables turned and the entire ordeal became rather awkward. Nonetheless, we praise Amy for being such a good sport!
So far we have shown examples of parents who used their online social profiles to mock their children, but what about those who are too spirited for their own good, regardless of the fact they brought kids into the world? This particular mother clearly was not about to kill her personal life just because she birthed a daughter, posting a status that made her child cringe and demand that her mother would stop behaving this way. Talk about a freaky Friday situation!
American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift is known to be one to gain inspiration from her personal life whenever coming up with a new hit. Therefore, it is easy to comprehend why many people identify with her tunes. The girl in the picture below expressed her deepest appreciation for the notable musician – only to be completely shut down by her father who made fun of her reference by telling her Swift’s latest (and nonexistent) single, “Empty the Dishwasher & The Cat Box Every Night” was definitely about her.
Age Before Beauty
Junior Jackson thought he would beat his mother to the punch by posting a status about a conversation he had with her in which he felt like the winner. Sadly, junior’s cocky attitude caused him to forget who he was dealing with and that a game involving witty puns and double meanings is one his mother rued back in the day. This just goes to show you should never underestimate your opponent, no matter how related you are to them.
My Looks Don’t Cost A Thing
Ms. Arnold was feeling rather good about herself, having gone through a complete pampering process consisting of thorough grooming. After she posted about getting her nails done, T. said she was looking forward to dying her hair and then be done with her errands. Her mother, C., became alarmed reading this status, and decided to do something about it. Instead of having a serious face to face discussion with her daughter, C. wanted to put her in her place and announced to the world there’s more to life than looks.
Justin had no way of knowing an innocent post like the one he had published could spiral downhill so quickly, but his dad sure knows how to take advantage of a moment when he sees one. Writing “comment when you first met me, how old we were and what you thought” seemed like a pretty straightforward request – one father Ted took too literally as he replied: “9 months before you were born. I brought you on a date and you left with your mother.”
That’s What Parents Are For
Whoever wrote this rather dramatic Facebook status was clearly referencing a past relationship, not remembering that his parents do not hold back even at all. The double striking parents were quick to mock their child’s emotional status, but by doing so turned it into something funny – which is probably their strange way to try to get him to feel better. Regardless, that is one funny response.
Young Ms. Jaco was probably just trying to be funny when she posted a photo of herself grinning and added the caption “I didn’t choose the thug life, the thug life chose me,” but that was not enough to make her dad jump up at the opportunity to diss his daughter. “You can’t be a thug and scared of the dark,” he commented at first, but when she replied, her mom decided to chirp in, saying “or scared of taking a shower when no one else is home.”
N. was invested in buying a car, but in order to get one, she was required to get a co-signer. Turning to social media for help, N. received some replies from her friends, but the latter were not much help. Only when her mother commented on the status did everything clear up and make a whole lot more sense. She wrote: “I’m not sure how Dad explained it to you… it’s not that we can’t (co-sign)… but you paved your own path.”
A Taste Of His Own Medicine
Cyberbullying is a serious matter, one that should not be taken lightly. More often than not, we hear about parents speaking out against other children that bullied their own, but only on rare occasions do we get to experience the other side of things. This boy’s father learned his son was using his social profile to spread personal information about another girl, so he decided the best way to teach him a lesson would be to put him in the same position. Kudos to the dad!
Blast From The Past
When it comes to birthdays, sometimes the biggest headache of all is trying to understand what the individual would want as a present. This little boy decided to make things a whole lot easier for everyone by publicizing his heart’s deepest desire – a Tamagotchi. The handheld digital pet is a Japanese invention that quickly became one of the biggest toys of the ’90s. However, the greatest gift that was fast approaching the boy’s way was his mom’s clever comment.
Leslie did not think much the moment he uploaded this picture onto his social media account and publicized it for all to see. After all, it is not as if he is pulling some shady stunt or wearing clothes that would make one shut the browser window in a second. Little did he know that his mother, Sherri, did not need something to strike her as obscene to make a snappy comment. All she needed was a short glance at his newly grown facial hair to cyber-slap him senseless.
