Pop/country singer Kelly Clarkson has no time for haters. Time and time again she’s shown us how she can take naysayers to task. However, this time the singer wasn’t under fire for a wardrobe choice or fluctuating weight. This outspoken celebrity sparked internet outrage after posting a video of her young daughter, River Rose, eating Nutella for the first time. River, who did an adorable happy dance after her first bites, seemed quite happy with mommy and her choice of breakfast.
Clarkson wrote below the post, “River’s first Nutella experience, It should have been via crepe but toast was easier.” And isn’t that true? Some times just getting your child to eat a few bites in the morning is hard enough! What we should notice in this heartwarming post is a happy, smiley baby girl having a lovely morning with her mommy.
But Clarkson’s post on Instagram apparently pushed some buttons with other moms who couldn’t resist commenting on the singers perceived downfalls. “There’s a lot of sugar in that,” commented one person. “Nutella is hella bad for you,” added another. “Yep. Start them out with cancer at an early age,” one person commented, while another piped up with, “Nutella is cancerous u know” and “Stop eating Nutella it’s been confirmed to give cancer.”
While it’s true that studies have shown a correlation between heating palm oil to high levels and carcinogens, the level of palm oil in Nutella has been shown to be safe and the myth has been debunked.
Clarkson didn’t respond to these mom shamers and their acidic comments. Good for you, Kelly! You do you.
